Plainfield DentalCare offers the latest in CT Scanning technology. Our CT Scan is a tool we use to get a clear picture of what is going on right beneath your gums and the overall state of your mouth. The CT Scan is a quick and painless procedure. The scanner essentially takes a three dimensional scan of the head, with sharpness focusing on teeth. The whole procedure takes approximately two minutes and the scanning is less than 20 seconds.
The scan gives us an x-ray of what issues you may be suffering from and also helps us to predict possible movement or trends in your mouth. As a result of this state-of-the-art technology, we can scan virtually every area of the human body.
CT (Computerized Tomography) uses X-rays to create cross-sectional anatomy images of a patient, creating detailed image of the inside of the human body. When early CT scanners were introduced, the procedure was commonly referred to as a CAT (Computerized Axial Tomography) scan. This was because at the time, scanners could only create cross-sectional Axial images. Technology has improved to the point where the axial images are taken and reconstructed into different anatomical planes. By doing this, CAT is not limited to just Axial imaging, therefore, deleting Axial from the name.
